Our Inspiration:
Hope Renovations
Hope Renovations offers a pre-apprenticeship training program for underemployed women and gender-expansive folks in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The program is designed to give them the skills to confidently enter the trades or enroll in apprenticeships and continuing education. Hope also completes small to mid-sized home repairs and modifications for adults 55+ and those living with a disability, so they can stay safe and independent in their homes. These jobs provide Hope trainees the opportunity to apply and practice their skills in real-world settings.
Since its inception in 2020, Hope has recently expanded into three counties in the Triangle area (Orange, Durham and Wake). They have graduated 18 cohorts (and counting) with more than 90 women and gender expansive folks now empowered to take on living-wage careers in the construction industry. Their work has also made it possible for more than 250+ families to remain safely in their homes.
Hope Renovations is doing their part to close the gender gap in the trades, and making it a more equitable profession, one graduate at a time.
